Fridays Fabulous Five

Fridays Fabulous Five~Volume 7

One~ birthday can last for days.  Frank had a milestone birthday this week.  It was close to the 40 one.  Haha..  We tend to roll right form 4th of July celebration into his birthday.  This year I really wanted to do something super special for him.  After a morning scavenger hunt to find me, he showed up all dressed up in his birthday clothes.  (Not quite what I told him to wear, so we had to go back to the house, grab his tie and fancy socks, and change his shirt.  Once we were in the car, I made Frank put his fancy socks over his eyes and blind folded him with his tie.  After driving around Sonoma and trying to fool him on direction, we went out by the airport and surprise!  Jon, Franks son was there waiting and they went up in a 1926 biplane. Captain Bob took them up with Coastal Air Tours out of Sonoma  Over an hour flying over wine country and San Francisco.  It looked so cool.  I would have gone, but my motion sickness would have knocked me down for days.  Even the guys came home a little green.  I advise if you go to eat some ginger!

Two~ girls was the trade.  I was the lucky one who got to take the girls, our adorable grands, while the guys were flying over San Francisco.  Xiomara and Xochi, they are just so darn cute and easy.  They call us Lollipops and we love seeing them every chance we can get.  What more can I say, Grandkids are a breath of fresh air! PS- trying to get a good photo of two small children is no easy task.

Three~pounds is what I gained back from my week off Keto.  I have to admit, after being on Keto for 30 days and going off for the week of the 4th.  My stomach had several bad days.  I went back on Monday the 8th of July, even bought Frank a carrot cake for his birthday and did not have any.  They say anything works if you stick with it.  I have not found that to be true.  I have stuck with many plans that have not worked for me.  Keto works with my system.  For some crazy reason, carbs are not my friend. Sugar is the obvious culprit in weight gain, but what is not so obvious is where it is hidden.  Doing keto has really been an education on hidden carbs.  I mean, if you think nonfat milk is good, think again.  Tons of sugar used in the processing.  Heavy cream is the way to go!  Man is it yummy too.  Try the Starbucks passion iced tea. Shaken with a splash of heavy cream and some sugar free vanilla.  It is the best summer treat ever!

Four~Days home, and I am already trying to capitalize on Franks sabbatical.  Yep, he really meant it when he said he was going to take a month off.  I have to admit, I love having him around.  There are so many places I have not been in the summer that I really want to try to hit up while he is off.  The only challenge is, have you ever noticed, when you have time, you do not have money and when you have money, you do not have time.  This is where I get creative.  I want to go to Tahoe and Yosemite.  So bad, they I am even willing to sleep in a tent. Yep, it is amazing what you are willing to do when you want something bad enough!

Tahoe in the winter is all I know

Five~years ago almost to the day what the last time we visited Repris Wines.  It was Frank’s birthday in 2014 and his daughter set up a day of wine tasting for him.  We went to Repris and never forgot how incredible it was up there.  Sitting on top of Moon Mountain, the views are just breathtaking. We were greeted by a gem, named Lydia.  Enjoyed our wines, while journeying through history as well as the almost 300 acre property. You can read all about that experience HERE
